“Kevin, I’ve been reading the Bible. I started in Genesis. I just got to Hebrews. I’ve got some questions for you.”
This statement came from Will, a friend of mine who was a bartender, who didn’t particularly like people all that much, and was far from God. For some reason he liked me and our conversations over the years had been meaningful. We discussed everything, sometimes even God, but he never told me he had ever opened the Bible.

We just don’t see things like God does.
Today, I wonder what He has in store for those of us who are willing to simply wake up, pray up, look for opportunities, and step out of our comfort zone to share His love.

Today’s devotion told of a young woman who had been given a church businesss card with a map and service times on it. That hit me.
When Kevin asked me a few months ago to add maps & etc. to the scripture verse cards, I acted as if it was an added chore. It couldn’t possibly really have an effect, could it?
Not being a particularly outgoing or social person, I often struggle with my role in advancing the Kingdom. I promise never to complain about putting a map on the back of any of our printed material again.

This finally started to happen with me today. Two opportunities with co-workers. All I did was ask them how their weekend went and they both said they had bad weekends which was the opening. I didn’t plan it that way but it just happened. Got into a God conversation with one of them. I think it mainly broke the ice with them so I can continue with this in the future. Last week I had a similar opportunity with someone not doing well that seemed receptive but I shut the door, oops. I’m learning.

I am able to share already and I am not as doubtful that the person will reject what I say.  From this book, it shows me that I am not responsible for the outcome after sharing the Lord.  That’s the beauty of it.

I ran health clubs for about 30 years. I can’t tell you how many people really believed that they had to “get into shape” before they got into the gym. It seems that a lot of us have the same theory when it comes to sharing our faith. We want to have all the answers before we get started.
One of the things that makes this an adventure is that we are not up to the task. We are not able. Like someone said long ago, we just need to be “available”.
