After my Skateboard Ministry meeting I noticed a kid that use to be in one of the art classes I taught at an Elementary school. So, I went up and said hello to him. I saw he had a skateboard and told him about the ministry that I do. He told me that he did not go to church, but wanted to know more about Jesus and the Bible. Of course I said let\’s grab a seat and talk. I also invited in one of our teen leaders so he could meet him also. We talked about the basics of [...]

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 I was pitching the 42-day “Unexpected Adventure” in the lobby of Foothills Christian Church. It felt like the old days at tradeshows. A young man look over at me behind my pile of books. “Hey, how you doing?” I called out. “Good”, he responded. “You interested in taking an adventure in sharing your faith?” I admit, in my enthusiasm I must have sounded like the guy who sells potato peelers at the fair. “Not really”, [...]

This book is slowly changing me. It is truly starting to click that it is far greater to serve others and do good deeds for others than it is to focus on me and what I\’m getting. Before I was a Christian, I would often say that everyone is selfish. People that act selflessly are only doing it because it makes them feel good, thus coming from a selfish place. But as a Christian, I know that this is not true. Today\’s adventure really had me thinking about that. We do good for others and we serve others not necessarily [...]

This IS an adventure that requires “nimbleness”! Nicely done.

“I have been praying for God to bring more and more opportunites for me to talk to people about Him, and He has definitely been faithful… I had the perfect opportunity to talk to this little girl about who Jesus is.”

“Breaking the Pact” made me think about how, in so many ways we try to put God in a box. We try to “manage” our Christian walk. One of the things that makes this walk with God an adventure is that it is constantly changing. I think the thing that made it possible for Lee and his wife to see the opportunity was the intentionality of their life. They were looking and planning and praying. They just got so “planned up” that they almost missed a wonderful opportunity. We need to stay nimble in this adventure. Post an experience where you [...]

Wow…Day 4 is a read to remember…for me at least! Funny how I can prioritize a stressful or an important item, so that it seem to somehow get completed. I notice that I move it from my “Some Day Maybe List” of things to do, to my “Action List” of things to…as taught by David Allen, (GTD) Getting Things Done, www.davidco.com He asserts that there is no such thing a Time Management…no one can hoard time…or herd minutes or save seconds, in a bottle. Rather, we can only manage our own actions and we are all accountable for our own [...]

I think God is “paying” me to get people back into church: Over the last month, I have had several notary clients with whom I had an opportunity to invite them to church. A couple have come to services. And the one today, said she has been too busy with working all week & having practicums on weekends to go. On Saturday nights too? She looked right at me, said no. There’s a church near where you work that has Sat services. She handed me a piece of paper and a pen, wanted the address and the time. I shared [...]

Today got me thinking…..my days are numbered. It’s not something to scare me into a depression, but to get me into a conversation. My girls came first to mind. I have been trying my best to teach them about God and His love since I was pregnant – literally. But what about the times I am “too busy”, am I teaching them about His love? Is God ever too busy for us? No! Are we, as parents, supposed to set an example of God’s love for them? YES! So how in the world can I even for a moment be [...]

Well here it goes! I have been trying to lose weight so I went to a weight clinic where they stick a big needle in my butt three times a week. The head doctor there is a very outgoing guy by the name of Paul. He is very friendly and likes to chat with all of his clients including me. On day two I am sitting in the waiting room looking forward to my shot in the rear when Paul being his jovial self is talking to everyone about why he is always prepared for anything. I must point out [...]
